Most of the farmers produce Grafted Roses. For the production of Indian Wild Rose, contract farming is done with farmers by providing Indian Wild Rose sticks as seeds. As per the contract, the farmers agree to cultivate Indian Wild Rose because they get a fixed amount per area. This mixture of Indian Wild Rose petals and organic sugar is pounded together in a large wooden bowl and placed in food grade cans to ferment. The water in the rose petals separates and the sugar dissolves in it slowly. This process takes eight months! After the tsunami, the extraction of corals (Prawal) from the sea is banned. So, we use Precious Pearls Powder (Mukta Pishti) which is more effective and expensive than the corals. Mukta Pishti, Cardamom, Indian Wild Rose Petals & Organic Sugar are mixed in right amount in the Satmahas Special Grade Gulkand. Indian Wild Rose Petals cost four times more than Grafted Rose, while Mukta-pishti and Elaichi are also very expensive. Due to this reason, Satmahas Gulkand is expensive.
